Passengers injured in a motor vehicle accident may have the right to seek compensation for their injuries, regardless of which driver was responsible for the crash. Because passengers are rarely at fault for a collision, they may be able to pursue claims through one or more insurance policies depending on the circumstances of the accident.

Compensation may be available for medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost income, pain and suffering, and other damages related to accident-related injuries. In cases that involve serious injuries, passengers may require ongoing treatment and care that extends well beyond the initial emergency response.

It can sometimes be complicated to determine which insurance policies apply, particularly when multiple vehicles, uninsured motorists, or disputed liability issues are involved.
