West Babylon, NY – Two Killed in Wrong-Way Accident on Route 109 near Platt Ave
West Babylon, NY (February 22, 2023) – Two people lost their lives after a wrong-way accident in West Babylon on Wednesday, February 22.
Reports show a 63-year-old male driving a 2005 Chevrolet at approximately 9:38 a.m. headed east in the westbound lanes of Route 109 was involved in a collision with a 2021 BMW X3 headed west.
A passenger present in the BMW along with the driver of the Chevrolet both lost their lives in the collision. The driver of the BMW, identified as a 49-year-old from Centereach, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with injuries.
The westbound lanes of the roadway were closed while the crash scene was occupied by first responders. Police in West Babylon continue to investigate.
