West Elmira, NY – Fatal Pedestrian Crash at Glen Ave & W Water St
West Elmira, NY (January 27, 2023) – A pedestrian was fatally injured in a crash that occurred yesterday, January 26, at approximately 1:21 p.m. The incident was reported to officials in West Elmira on Thursday afternoon.
Reports show the crash occurred near the intersection of Glen Avenue and West Water Street. A 72-year-old female pedestrian from Pine City was reportedly struck by a GMC Sierra pickup truck while walking a dog across Glen Avenue. She was in the crosswalk at the time of the collision.
The driver remained at the scene and worked with police during the investigation. Multiple responders were seen working at the crash site for an extended period of time on the afternoon of January 27. Delays in traffic occurred in the area and local drivers were urged to use different routes.
Police in West Elmira continue to investigate.
