Poughkeepsie, NY (January 27, 2023) – A serious car crash happened on a roadway in Poughkeepsie on the morning of January 26. Shortly before 11:00 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the crash on Route 9.
According to information from local reports, the incident happened on Route 9 in front of the Texas Road House restaurant. Several responders were seen rendering aid at the scene, including tow truck drivers, police, paramedics, and firefighters.
While wreckers worked to clear the roadway, paramedics treated injured victims and police investigated the details of the accident. At least two vehicles sustained significant damages in the collision, and another vehicle was seen damaged and off of the roadway a few feet short of an enclosed school bus stop.
At least one person suffered injuries in the collision. EMTs treated wounded individuals at the scene and transported those who were seriously hurt to area medical centers. The identities of the involved parties have not been reported at this time.
Traffic was backed up for miles toward Poughkeepsie while responders worked on the road. Congestion stretched past the Holiday Inn, according to reports.
What caused the accident remains under investigation by local police. Nothing further has been reported concerning the accident or its circumstances.
