Jersey City Heights, NJ (August 17, 2021) – A woman lost her life when she was hit by a car on a roadway in Jersey City Heights on Sunday, August 15. The wreck was reported in the afternoon hours, according to officials in New Jersey.
The woman, who remains unidentified at this time, was attempting to cross the busy four lanes of Kennedy Boulevard at Grace Street. While doing so, she was hit by a Jersey City man in a 2008 Chrysler 300. She was thrown approximately 40 feet due to the impact of the crash, according to reports.
The female victim, who was stated to have been between 65 and 70 years of age, was unresponsive when authorities arrived at 12:41 p.m. Paramedics rendered first aid at the scene, however, she was pronounced deceased at around 1:00 p.m.
The area in which the accident occurred was closed to local traffic while first responders worked to secure the scene. Traffic delays ensued while crews were present on the roadway, forcing other drivers to find alternative travel routes for the time being.
