E-Bike Battery Fire Injures Three on 3rd Ave in Bronx, NY

Bronx, NY (July 31, 2026) – Three people were hurt after an e-bike battery caught fire inside a residential building in the Morrisania section of the Bronx.

The fire broke out around 10:44 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at a building on 3rd Avenue near East 167th Street, according to the New York Fire Department. Fire crews received a report of an e-bike on fire in a second-floor apartment.

Close to 80 fire and EMS personnel responded to the location, and the fire was brought under control by 11:18 p.m. Three people were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

No further details about those hurt have been released. Investigators are continuing to look into what caused the fire.
